  Testing Procedures for Limited English Proficient Students

The NYSED has issued a memo with procedures to ensure that LEP students are provided with a fair and equitable assessment under the revised State assessment program.

  September Report to the Regents on Services to Limited English Proficient Students Available

The Office of Bilingual Education presented a report to the New York State Board of Regents on improving services to limited English proficient students at their September meeting. The report features:
  • highlights from the July report to the Regents, "Strategies to Provide Intensive English Language Instruction to Limited English Proficient (LEP) Students,"

  • answers to frequently asked questions, and

  • a timeframe for the implementation of the "Twelve Steps to Assist Limited English Proficient students Meet the English Language Arts Standards."

  Back Copies of Regents Examinations Available

The State Education Department has made available back copies of Regents examinations and scoring keys for use by students, parents, and educators. Among those available is the Spanish translation of the June Sequential Mathematics Course I Examination.
